Project Information

The site located in Courtmacsherry, County Cork.

The existing house on the site served as a local post office and holiday home for the clients when they were kids. The house was not able to take a refurbishment so a new house was proposed. There is an active car park next to the site so the living areas were elevated to the first floor to look over the public space. Deep recesses allow for privacy and protection from the elements whilst also framing the views of the local beach front. Bedrooms on the ground floor are split by an open thread feature staircase that allows for light to penetrate deep into the narrow plan. The red colour was inspired by local farm buildings also in red and sometimes you can both scream and be subtle at the same time.
