Located off the coast road in Portmarnock the design intention was to elevate the building on the site and to stretch the main living areas across the site to reflect the wide panoramic landscape to take advantage of the views of Portmarnock Beach, Lambay Island and Irelands Eye. Designing in Dublin was a new challenge for JEKA and being selected from a shortlist of 3 other Dublin based Architects was added to trying to show our skills in design in other parts of Ireland. A sheltered modern rear loggia creates protection and intimacy against the elements. The design concept used the Japanese module of ken (1 Ken = 1.82m) which contributes subtlety to the minimal design detailing with high quality robust material finish to withstand the harsh Coastal winds and salt bourne Air.
